The January North Gateway Tire Co. January Athletes of the Month are in! Congratulations to this month’s winning athletes, Pat Midea of Buckeye HS and Kendall McCormick of Highland HS! Both Pat and Kendall will be receiving a gift card and winners certificate courtesy of North Gateway Tire Co.

And a big congratulations to Madison Ross also nominated from Buckeye HS. Go Bucks!

Kendall McCormick – Basketball – Highland HS
Kendall has led the Girls Basketball Team to a 13-2 record by performing at a high Level. One of the best players in the area she is avg 15.3 ppg, 5.0 Rebs, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals a game for the Hornets. As the captain of the team she has provided great leadership that has contributed to the team being successful

Pat Midea – Basketball – Buckeye HS
Pat made six threes in a game against Padua. His leadership and play has helped us become more competitive of late.

Jordan Truelsch – Swimming – Brunwick HS
Jordan has helped the Brunswick girls swimming team to a 4-1 start winning 12 events. At the GCC Swimming Championships Jordan finished in first place in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:26.63.

Madison Ross – Basketball – Buckeye HS
Madison has done an outstanding job leading our team this year. The senior captain is averaging 13.1 points per game and has a games of 22 and 27 points this season. She is able to play inside and outside with tremendous versatility and is our ‘go-to’ player when we need scoring. She can handle the ball as a point guard as well. On the defensive end she is creates difficulties for teams as she can guard all types of players at any time.

Sarah McKee – Basketball – Medina HS
Sarah averaged 15.0 points per game over 5 games, plus 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.8 steals while also defending the opposing team’s top player. For the season, she has tallied 14.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.3 steals, 1.7 blocks and shoots very efficiently (53.4% FG, 40.0% 3FG, 85.7% FT%)
Points: 13.1; Rebounds: 6.9; Steals: 2.2; Assists: 2.2

Male Nominees:

Derek Fields – Wrestling – Brunswick HS
Derek is 14-2 on the season and 2-0 in the GCC. Derek was Champion at 152 lbs. at the Solon Comet Classic and also named the tournaments “Most Outstanding Wrestler”. Derek also competed at the Walsh Ironman Tournament. At the Medina Invitational Tournament (MIT) Derek was the Champion at 152 lbs. and was also named the tournament MVP.

Dylan Esterle | Bowling | Highland HS
Dylan was a top bowler for the Hornets team this season.

Jake Osborne | Basketball | Highland HS
Jake Osborne, Senior Point Guard, for the Hornets has helped lead Highland boys basketball to 3-1 this month. This month Jake has emerged as our leader on offense, running the show from the point guard position and our defensive stopper guarding the opponents best scoring threat. Over the last month Jake is averaging 7.5 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
