Male Nominees:

Justin Tepes – Soccer & Football – Highland High School 

Justin is a Captain on the Boys Soccer team. In the last 3 games, Justin has scored 6 goals for the Hornets. He’s also be tasked with helping out defensively due to injuries to other players. His leadership has been unquestioned during this time. The Hornets have had a tough season, but to have won 2 of their last 3 is a testament to Justin’s skill, desire, and most importantly his leadership.

Justin also plays football for the Hornets. In their first win of the season against Revere, a 16-13 game, he scored 10 points, including the game-winning kick in overtime.

Evan Jarold – Cross Country – Brunswick High School 

Running in the highly competitive Race of Champions this past weekend, Evan finished 14th out of 150+ runners. He was the highest placing sophomore.

Danny Thoryk – Soccer – Buckeye High School 

Exceptional play on the field this season (4 goals 3 assists) as a defensive midfielder. He has really matured as this season has gone on and developed into one of our team leaders. Played through three injuries (broken finger, sprained ankle, turf toe). He was named captain by the team going into the postseason. 

Luke Schreck – Golf – Cloverleaf High School 

Luke has been a consistent leader on the Colts team this season, including leading Cloverleaf to capture the PTC Metro League title. Luke Schreck led a balanced scoring effort for the Colts with an 81.

Female Nominees:

Cleo Meldrum – Golf – Medina High School

Cleo brought her average down toward the end of the season by 4 strokes and qualified for the Division I District Tournament by shooting a tremendous back nine at the Sweetbriar Sectional.

Sandra Dolata – Cross Country – Buckeye High School

Sandra is a pleasure to coach. Hard working, competitive and kind to her teammates. She has placed first for the team in every meet this season.

Calista Bobula – Tennis & Soccer – Brunswick High School

Calista is a two-sport fall athlete! She is on the Girls Soccer team and Girls Tennis team. At the Greater Cleveland Conference, Tennis Championships Calista finished in 4th place in 1st Singles Bracket. In soccer, Calista has helped her team as she plays back middle defender.

Kara Sexton – Volleyball – Buckeye High School

Kara is not only a leader on the court but also off the court. She always had a positive attitude and puts a smile on her teammates faces when needed.

Alessandra Goyette – Golf – Highland High School

Alessandra qualified for the District Tournament as an individual out of the Fox Den Sectional on October 2nd. She shot a 79 to qualify.

Alessandra then went on to shoot a 79 at Ellsworth Meadows in the OHSAA District Tournament on October 8th.

Her scored earned her the third spot for individual advancement to the OHSAA State tournament at the OSU Golf Club on October 18th and 19th. She is the youngest individual qualifier to come out of Highland HS, and is one of 12 golfers statewide to individually qualify and play for an individual state championship.
