Female Nominees:

Alexa Mackey – Soccer – Brunwick High School
Alexa scored one goal and had two assists in her opening game against Wadsworth. Alexa is also one of the Girls Soccer Team Captains.

Kalina Trevino – Volleyball – Cloverleaf High School
Kalina is our most dominant hitter. Every headline covering our team says “Trevino, Cloverleaf….” She’s averaging 20 kills per match, which is higher than the national average. She’s a senior captain and stellar athlete. 95 kills for the season, 9 solo blocks for the season.

Dana Thur – Soccer – Cloverleaf High School
Leading county in overall points in Medina county. Medina county athlete of the week. 9 goals, 2 assists.

Kalle Hotes – Soccer – Highland High School
Has played in half of positions and is one reason why we are currently tied in first in league and 3 game win streak.

Kira Holland – Volleyball – Medina High School
54 kills in 4 matches (4.9 kills per set); Freshman Outside Hitter
Emily Hadler – Tennis – Highland High School
At the start of the season, Emily Hadler beat a tough opponent from Brecksville High School, was the tournament champion at the Medina Doubles tournament with her partner, Rachel Fannin, tournament champion at 1st singles at the Triway Invitational, and is the tournament champion at the Highland Invitational.
Thursday, September 19, with the match tied at 2-2, Emily broke the tie with a three setter against Solon’s Yang. This was an impressive win for both Emily and the Highland tennis program.
Alessandra Goyette – Golf – Highland High School 
Alessandra kept up an impressive pace on the links in September.
  • She finished 3rd overall as an individual at the Medina Invitational at 72, (+1), and helped Highland to a 5th place finish out of 17 teams.
  • She posted 4, 9-hole rounds under 40 in dual matches against Kent, Green, Tallmadge and Nordonia.
  • She finished as medalist wit a 78 in the 3rd Suburban League tournament at Ellsworth Meadows.
  • She finished in top 3 with a 78 at the 4th and last Suburban League Tournament at Barberton Brookside helping the Hornets grab second place in the American Division.  Also her SL score cemented her capturing the lowest average in both divisions for League play this season.

Male Nominees:

Justin Hagler – Soccer & Football – Brunswick High School
In addition to four extra points, and a 25-yard field goal in the football game vs Lorain this past week, Justin had seven goals and two assists in his first four games of the soccer season. He was named the Greater Akron DI Boys player of the week by the coaches association. He also broke into the top 10 in scoring on the career records list in BHS History.

Jake Emrock – Soccer – Buckeye High School
Helping lead a backline that has only given up 3 goals over his team’s last 6 games.

Mason Kabat – Cross Country – Buckeye High School
Mason is a consistent top performer for the team the past two seasons and is a fierce competitor in every race he lines up for. He also helps pull his teammates along in workouts, putting the team before his individual goals.

Max McAdams – Cross Country – Highland High School
Always supporting and being a leader and working hard

Harry Custer – Cross Country – Highland High School
Harry won the Mentor “Cardinal Classic” and finished 7th at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival. His time at Tiffin was 15:47. That is the 17th fastest time in the state and 13th in Division 1.
